  • What is spiritual direction?
  • What is the difference between spiritual direction and counseling?
  • How can you know if you are called to the ministry of spiritual direction?
  • What should happen in direction sessions?

The appendixes feature helpful tools like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a Theological Worlds Inventory, the Enneagram, and other resources. Whether you are a pastor, church leader, or a layperson, you will benefit from the wealth of information contained in this book.

Reviews

"The Art of Spiritual Direction by W. Paul Jones is the most comprehensive book available on Christian spiritual direction and integrates the Catholic and Protestant roots of the art. Drawing on years of experience as both directee and director, Jones gives the reader a full understanding of the various types of spiritual direction as well as guidelines, methods, and resources for sessions."

"Warning: Don't read The Art of Spiritual Direction unless you are ready to do something about it. This book issues a challenge not only to those involved in the art but especially to those who are not. Thanks to Paul Jones, spiritual guides will have a rich resource."
